The Luxurious Spa
When you imagine a luxurious spa, you’re probably picturing steaming water emanating from a hot tub, the gentle sounds of bubbling water, monochromatic plantings, and clean, open, and soothing spaces. A luxurious spa may be one of those destinations that only few can frequent, but it is something achievable at home with the right design.
Opt for large format pavers in neutral colors for the pool surround. Monochromatic plantings will add to a sense of calm. Be sure to include a living wall or other privacy barrier to keep the space feeling exclusive. A pergola will offer relief from the blazing sun. A few subtle wind chimes and a small fountain will contribute to the peaceful setting.
The Water Park
When you imagine a water park, you’re probably picturing tall slides, wave pools, caves and tunnel rides, but don’t forget the crowds and perpetually long lines! Though you may not be able to achieve the same scale of a water park in your backyard, there are plenty of ways you can amp up the fun with a few additions to your pool design.
Install a combination waterfall and small water slide on one end of your pool to bring some of the water park favorites right to your backyard. This combination is a winner for “kids” of all ages. If your pool is large enough, add basketball hoops, a water polo net, and diving board for summer-long fun.
